Senior Manager, HR and Internal Operations

About the role

As the Senior HR and Internal Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting our fully remote team. You will manage day-to-day HR functions, refine internal processes, and implement strategies to enhance team efficiency and morale. This position requires a combination of HR expertise, operational know-how, and the ability to foster a positive remote work culture.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

  • Manage our new hire recruitment process, including posting job openings, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and onboarding new hires.

  • Develop and implement employee retention strategies, performance management systems, and professional development programs.

  • Ensure compliance with remote work policies and internal company policies.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Work in tandem with our Finance team on any HR related audits.

  • Act as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance on conflict resolution and performance improvement.

  • Work closely with our network of trusted external resources to manage employee issues across the multiple states where we have employees.

  • Manage our employee benefits packages including working with our Broker to put together comprehensive healthcare offerings. 

  • Maintain and update employee records, benefits, and compensation information.

  • Assist in administering our retirement benefits programs.

  • Handles investigations, discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Internal Operations

  • Optimize internal workflows to improve team efficiency, productivity, and collaboration.

  • Create and manage effective communication systems across the remote team, ensuring all employees have clear access to relevant information and updates.

  • Oversee internal tools and systems, recommending improvements or new platforms to enhance performance and streamline operations.

  • Manage key partners for technology and systems support across our team. 

  • Monitor and improve remote work policies to maintain employee engagement, productivity, and work-life balance.

Team Culture & Employee Experience

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive remote work culture through team-building activities, virtual events, and recognition programs.

  • Identify opportunities to improve employee satisfaction, health, and well-being, including mental health resources and work-life balance initiatives.

  • Lead the development of employee engagement strategies and ensure consistent feedback mechanisms are in place.

Internal Operations Department Oversight

  • Oversee the Internal Operations team ensuring alignment and operating efficiently. 

  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure the smooth operation of the agency’s internal structure while supporting the development and well-being of our people.

  • This person will report to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with the leadership team to align HR strategies with the company's goals, helping shape organizational growth and success.

  • Provide strategic advice on workforce planning, structure, & resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in HR management, internal operations, or a related field, preferably in a remote work environment or marketing agency setting, including 5 years of supervising others in a dispersed office environment

  • Experience working successfully with a small team in a fully remote environment

  • Proven experience managing HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and policy development.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

  • Strong understanding of remote work best practices and tools.

  • Strong knowledge of labor laws including federal and state laws and how they interact with each other.  

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in process optimization and operational efficiency.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required with HR certifications (SCP/CP and/or PHR/SPHR) are a plus.

  • Comfortable working with the Google Business Suite, Slack, and Zoom.

Employment Details 

This position is full-time and will work from a home office in the US.  The expected starting salary range for this role is 85,000 to 95,000 depending on education, qualifications, experience, and location of home office.
